Samsung Galaxy S7: Pressure–sensitive screen planned

Updated camera and fast–charging smarts set for 2016 flagship.


Samsung’s Galaxy S7 will feature a pressure–sensitive touchscreen, as the Korean giant looks to take on Apple’s 3D Touch tech, found in the iPhone 6s.

That’s the word from insiders speaking anonymously with the Wall Street Journal about Samsung’s plans. The new flagship device is said to be set for release in March, after being launched around the same time as the Mobile World Congress event in February.

Samsung isn’t just going after Apple with press sensitive smarts, however. Word is the Galaxy S7’s charging port will support state–of–the–art USB–C tech, allowing users to fully charge the phone in under thirty minutes.

The camera is also said to be an improvement on last year’s Galaxy S6, with bolstered low light performance and a lens which sits flush to the rear of the device.

Samsung will launch two versions of the handset: A flat–screen Galaxy S7 and curved screen Galaxy S7 Edge. The company will be hoping they can help lead it to a better financial position in 2016, after a difficult twelve months.
